The central feature of OGL is the Ocean Genome Resource, the nation's first marine-dedicated public genome bank. The Ocean Genome Resource is a central repository for genomic materials, including tissue, DNA, RNA, DNA libraries and amplified DNA products, exactingly prepared from expertly identified and documented specimens. Many genomic materials are DNA-barcoded (by sequencing diagnostic genes), referenced to museum (voucher) specimens and maintained under optimal conditions for long-term preservation in OGL's secure state-of-the-art storage facility. Detailed data are available for each specimen listed in our public on-line catalog
The OGR Committment to Open Access
Specimens and materials may be deposited to or requested from the Ocean Genome Resource by any researcher. OGL charges only cost recovery fees for depositing and distributing materials. OGL operates under a policy of fair and ethical trade and use (described in detail on the OGL website www.oglf.org), in keeping with principles established by the Convention on Biological Diversity (Rio Earth Summit,1992).
