Educating the Public in Marine Biodiversity
We at OGL are focused on expanding knowledge of our world's oceans, the diverse marine life forms inhabiting them, and how each of us can help to preserve and protect them. As part of that effort, we provide educational tours of our facilty with age-appropriate presentations for groups of all ages and scientific backgrounds. We also have a Student Intern Program, where we bring in high school or college students for 3-month periods to learn valuable laboratory and research techniques, as well as a Visiting Scientist Program, where researchers can gain access to our collection and use our facilities to further their own investigations. Finally, our staff will come to you to provide workshops in microbiology laboratory techniques and molecular sample processing and analysis, among other topics.
